Earth Day 2020 Celebration

We talk a lot about sustainable development. But within these conversations, we rarely step back to explore our own unique visions about what sustainable development is and where it is taking us in the world. Join us for an afternoon that aims to bridge this gap through an experiential workshop that invites participants to engage with a familiar topic--the Sustainable Development Goals--in a new way. Through reflection, open dialogue, visioning about the future, and creative exchange, we will explore the diversity of philosophies and beliefs that underpin our perspectives on sustainable development, and will tap into our deeper visions of what’s possible for the world.
Liz Moyer, MPA-DP is a facilitator, mentor and practitioner with over ten years of experience in the international sustainable development field. Healing - at the personal and collective levels - is at the center of her work. That's why she has combined her passion for sustainable development with her passion for healing to offer workshops and courses that take a holistic approach to equipping people with the tools they need to make a difference in the world. She is grateful to use her background in education for sustainable development to create learning opportunities that invite right-brain processes into the learning experience.

Welcome Brendane Tynes, our first ever Collections Strategy Graduate Assistant! Brendane is a Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellow in the PhD program in Anthropology at Columbia. We're excited to get to work together and grateful that she brings her research frameworks in intersectional feminist practice to collections work at our library. Brendane's research centers the affective experiences of Black women and girls in anti-violence movements in Baltimore. She interrogates the role of fear and anger in the reimagination of Black futures determined by legacies of interpersonal, institutional, and state violence. She's excited to discuss her work with anyone who's interested!

Student Fellows can help answer questions, brainstorm solutions to issues you might be facing, and share tips and strategies to support your learning.
These include: Troubleshooting technology (Student Fellows are trained in Zoom and Canvas!), communicating with your instructors, best approaches to online participation/assignments/assessments, creating a dedicated study space and structuring your day, tips for researching remotely, and taking care of yourself and your community. Student Fellows will be hosting drop-in hours on Zoom every weekday.
